Choose Insulated Panels for a More Efficient Building
Today’s manufactured buildings are among the most efficient and cost-effective structural solutions available to commercial, industrial, and institutional organizations – and they’re even more efficient when they include structural insulated panels (SIPs).
SIPs consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically oriented strand board (OSB). SIPs are manufactured under factory-controlled conditions and can be fabricated to fit nearly any building design. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective. Building with SIPs will save you time, money and labor.
Building with SIPs generally costs about the same as building with wood frame construction when you factor in the labor savings resulting from shorter construction time and less jobsite waste. Other savings are realized because smaller heating and cooling systems are required with SIP construction.
Structural insulated panels are one of the most airtight and well insulated building systems available, making them an inherently green product. An airtight SIP building will use less energy to heat and cool, provide better control over indoor environmental conditions, and reduce construction waste. The insulated core is one of the most thermally-effective insulants commonly available today, providing reliable thermal performance and insulation continuity – no cavities, no gaps, no crushed insulation and no cold bridges. Insulation values can be easily increased by simply increasing the thickness of the panels.
Major components of SIP
The major components of SIPs — foam and oriented strand board — take less energy and raw materials to produce than other structural building systems. Because SIPs are fabricated in a controlled environment, they are more consistent and offer greater efficiency than site-built framing. SIPs have the ability to drastically reduce the waste generated during construction by using advanced optimization software and automated fabrication technology to ensure the most efficient use of material.
SIPs do not contain any volatile organic compounds or other harmful chemicals that can affect occupant health. In fact, the components used to make SIPs meet some of the most stringent standards for indoor air quality.
If you have an upcoming building project, we’d be happy to tell you more about the many benefits of insulated panels and pre-engineered buildings. We can show you how you can save significant time and money with an attractive, durable, and highly-customizable manufactured building.
